Overview

Treendale Estate is situated in the south west coastal town of Australind. The village, which is close to the town’s new major shopping centre and transport hub, comprises 114 new high quality houses set out around an exceptionally well appointed, iconic community centre complete with outdoor community facilities, hydrotherapy pool and landscaped gardens.

The aim was to provide an iconic central facility that is low maintenance and multi-functional with a vibrant, modern aesthetic, energizing its users to create an interactive communal hub that will be as relevant in the future as it is today.

SPH were engaged to undertake the initial masterplan, and all four stages of the architectural and interior design for the project.

Initial site investigations highlighted the site was low lying with a high water table and acid sulfate soils.  To eliminate the cost of removing acid sulfate soils and effect of the high water table, the design allowed for one metre of fill to be installed over the entire site plus the installation of stormwater swales.   The swales where designed to provide recreational spaces for residents that could also be utilised as wayfinding devices within the village.
